Important Update: Refrigerant Transition in Schulz Air Dryers
25/03/2026 - News
As part of our commitment to regulatory compliance and sustainability, we would like to inform you of an important refrigerant transition affecting our air dryers.
The current refrigerants used by the industry have a high Global Warming Potential (GWP), which has led to regulatory action in the United States. A phase-down process began in 2024, and the use of some specific gases will be phased out starting in 2027.
In alignment with these regulations, Schulz is adopting R513a as the standard refrigerant for our air dryers. This transition ensures our products continue to meet current environmental standards while maintaining the high performance and reliability you expect.
To ensure optimal operation with R513a, we have made several improvements to our equipment. These adjustments were implemented to preserve efficiency and product reliability. As a result, the products will feature a more efficient heat exchanger, a smaller footprint, an improved shell, and a stronger frame that is more resistant to water splash. Our engineering team has also confirmed a lower dew point, around 38 °F.
We understand that this change may raise questions. Our team remains available to provide any necessary guidance and support.
It is also important to mention that, as we continue on a daily basis improving our technology, there will be no price increase on our line of air dryers due to these improvements.
Schulz will continue to monitor regulatory updates and keep you informed of any further changes. Thank you for your continued trust in our solutions. Sincerely, Schulz USA Team Schulz of America.
